John Abraham is once again ready to be seen in a powerful avatar on the big screen. His film ‘The Diplomat’ is going to be released in theaters on March 14, 2025. However, before this the censor board has used its scissors on the film. The film has been approved by the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification), but the makers will have to make some important changes in the film.
CBFC approval and necessary changes
According to a Mid Day report, John Abraham’s film ‘The Diplomat’ has received approval from the CBFC, but along with this the board has ordered to add a special disclaimer in the film. This disclaimer will ensure that maintaining good relations with neighboring countries is supported. Apart from this, a scene from the film has also been shortened.
Scene changes and censorship of profanity
According to the report, a source said that the CBFC has approved the use of several real names in ‘The Diplomat’, including Sadiya Khateeb’s character being named Ahmed. “After submitting the required documents, the makers have used the names of Sushma Swaraj (former foreign minister), JP Singh and Prashant Jadhav in some portions,” the source said. Also, the film featured a scene in which a boy hits a woman. The scene was shortened and an expletive was muted.
Disclaimer needed in film
The source further added, “Since the film is based on international diplomacy, a visual and audio disclaimer has been added. This disclaimer will clarify that, although the main theme is inspired by a true incident, the geopolitical tensions it depicts are dramatised and do not reflect the Indian government’s stance. The film is set in Pakistan, and this aspect is important as the relationship between the two countries is a sensitive matter.”
Content of the film and reason for the change
The subject of the film ‘The Diplomat’ is related to the diplomatic relations between India and Pakistan, and for this reason the censor board has given some instructions to present it in the right way. While on one hand the purpose of the film is inspired by real events, on the other hand it has included dramatic elements, which was necessary to show in the right direction.
The relationship between India and Pakistan is very sensitive, and hence it was important to present the subject of the film carefully and accurately. Hence, both the makers of the film and the CBFC have paid attention to this aspect so that it can be presented correctly and without any controversy.
‘The Diplomat’ film and John Abraham’s contribution
This film of John Abraham ‘The Diplomat’ is an important step for him. His character in this film is very powerful and challenging, which is ready to make its place in the hearts of the audience. The film has been directed and written with deep thought and strategy. The makers have taken care to ensure that the message of the film reaches the right way and along with that the audience understands the complexities of diplomatic relations.
Despite the film ‘The Diplomat’ getting the approval from the CBFC, its makers will now make some necessary changes in the film so that it can properly portray the diplomatic and sensitive relations between India and Pakistan. This John Abraham project can be more impressive than expected, provided it is ensured that both the elements used in the film and the message are in the right direction.
